Role & Responsibilities

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic System Integration Engineer to deliver innovative, high quality leading-edge solutions for the 2D/3D Printing industry in a fast paced, highly collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. This position is located in Barcelona, with occasional travel requirements either between Quantica sites or travel to customers, partners and suppliers.

The Systems Integration Engineer plays a central role in adapting and optimizing Quantica’s NovoJet printhead (PH) and Printing Systems to jet a wide range of materials. This position bridges laboratory experimentation, system configuration, process tuning, and field integration. You will guide the full lifecycle of material integration - from requirement exploration and feasibility studies through implementation planning, fine-tuning, and reliability validation - ensuring consistent and high-quality jetting performance for advanced applications.

The role combines hands-on lab work with strong system-level understanding and close interaction with customers, material partners, and internal development teams.

Your Roles & Responsibilities will be:

  1. Requirements & Feasibility
    • Collaborate with partners and customers to define jetting and process requirements.
    • Plan and execute feasibility studies to optimize printhead, system, and material interaction.
    • Document experimental results and establish initial process baselines.
  2. System & Parameter Integration
    • Configure and integrate the full NovoJet PH system (fluidics, electronics, printhead) for new materials.
    • Define, implement, and tune all necessary process parameters.
    • Establish repeatable calibration and operation procedures for specific material setups.
  3. Implementation & Coordination
    • Translate feasibility outcomes into actionable implementation plans for engineering and manufacturing teams.
    • Define system interface requirements with the industrial environment.
    • Coordinate cross-functional alignment to ensure timely material integration into production.
  4. System Optimization & Validation
    • Perform iterative tuning and validation in laboratory environments.
    • Identify and mitigate failure modes and conduct root-cause analysis for quality, reliability, or repeatability issues.
    • Support the documentation of qualification reports.
  5. Customer & Partner Support
    • Work directly with customers and partners during material onboarding and process tuning.
    • Demonstrate integration and performance results during evaluations.
    • Act as a key technical liaison between internal development teams and external partners.

Education & Experience

You will be a great fit if you have:

  • Degree in Mechatronics, Materials Science, Physics, or related engineering discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience with precision mechatronic or fluidic systems (inkjet, dispensing, microfluidics, or additive manufacturing).
  • Proven hands-on experience with complex system tuning, instrumentation, and experimental validation.
  • Understanding of control loops, actuation systems, and thermal/fluidic behavior.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting test data.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills for customer and internal collaboration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

About the work environment:

  • 60–70% hands-on lab work (integration, testing, tuning).
  • 20–30% collaborative work with internal engineering teams.
  • Up to 20% travel for on-site testing, customer visits, and field support.

What We Value

  • Experience with printhead-based or inkjet material deposition systems.
  • Familiarity with waveform design tools and high-speed imaging diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of jetting complex materials (e.g., resins, biological or functional fluids).
  • Understanding of embedded control or automation systems.
  • Comfort working in customer-facing roles and translating technical data into clear recommendations.

What We Offer

  • A truly open-minded and supportive work environment with a high level of employee empowerment
  • Flexible working hours
  • Competitive salary
  • Excellent location near Barcelona
  • Professional development and career advancement opportunities in a fast growing new company with unique technology
  • Working in an inspiring environment of a think tank, workshop, laboratory, collaborating with distributed colleagues
  • Free snacks, fruits, coffee and tea
